Drive it like a truck and you won't go far wrong, drive it like a Eurobox and you'll have the transmission clunking like a good'un in no time. Steve.

Bob thanks for the post!! Please let me know of any or meets as il like to start meeting a few Enthusiasts!! to be fair it's me, I don't think it is slack i just make it clunk!! I seem to get a flat spot just under and just over 2k when cruising but i didn't notice it when towing!! I think a remap will enhance the drivability

H4mmy90, I just read your original post on this.
FYI...I have a 2012 2.2 and I know what you mean about the clunk...however mine only does it once it has been running at a high-ish speed for around 30 minutes. When the vehicle is still cold it is a dream to drive...nice and smooth. However after a 30 minute country or motorway run it is impossible to drive smoothly around town. Every gear change results in a clunk no matter how hard I try. I suspect it is the clutch heating up and not disengaging in a linear way once it's warm. The thinner warm gearbox oil probably doesn't help either. I too have noticed that it is smoother while towing - even when hot. Interestingly, I have a 1969 109 and it behaves the same way...although it's not so obvious, as everything else in the vehicle is clunking all the time anyway. The flat spots don't sound right though...unless you're not used to the electronic throttle. It pays to keep in mind that the throttle pedal is just sending a message to the ECU rather than directly giving the engine more juice. Once I understood that, the behaviour of the engine made more sense to me. Hamish |
