Sounds unusual for someone to be praising British Telecom, but here goes.
Opened up the glossy leaflet that came with the bill (usually gets binned but as it was coffee time gave it a glance) the BT smartTalk iPhone app caught my eye and promised calls from your mobile for the cost of a local call from your landline, including 0845 etc. So loaded up the app and lo and behold after a bit of registration stuff I can make calls on my mobile via my home phone account, using wifi or 3G. That's a great benefit for the 0845s that a lot of businesses have nowadays and also apparently works from overseas which may well save a few bob  .
I guess the same could be setup using a Voip app but I've never tried that (except Skype which does similar with piccies) I would damaging its BT's attempt to get back some of the Voip and Skype business it's losing but a worthy app nonetheless.. Even better is it also works with the ipad in a sort of hands free sort of way - need to try a headset with it which may work. So well done BT and a good app to have on hand.
