Alternator/battery light on
As the title, started the LR tonight and the battery light is on! Have checked the fuses on the bulkhead but not the ones under the seat (don't know if there are any there to affect it?) I've put a meter on the battery and its not reading more than 12v Big Cry Might try giving it a wash in the morning as I have been over Salisbury plain but that was about a month ago any other obvious checks before I replace the alternator?

deja vu Yobbie, same happened to me just after Christmas, you should get 14+ volts on the meter, but good news is that you should be able to get just the rectifier and brushes unit, costs about £15 and takes 5 mins to fit.

(that was on my 300, so I hope it's similar)

i would start with a strip and clean and see how you go with that.

how old is it? mileage? worn brushes?

should see 14.2v at batt when running > 1400rpm Cheers

Thanks, lucky for me it's still under warranty so it's a replacement this time but I think I'll get some spare parts to carry when I go to Europe just in case. Thumbs Up
