Switzerland 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SVX Station Wagon Santorini Black
Startech at Geneva Car Show
Visited both Land Rover and Startech stands at the Geneva car show this morning. Land Rover have a very nice Defender 110 on show, white station wagon with a black roof, the new upgraded seats and the upgraded stereo with subwoofer. Nice.
But then visited Startech and they have on display their Defender Series 3.1 which is a real WOW factor machine. Admit that it even looks marginally better than my SVX Mr. Green Embarassed , but price also is roughly €70k Whistle
It is the first time that I see the new Nolden LEDs live, and must admit they look really nice. This beautifully finished Defender is superior all over, has the electric G-Wagon side mirrors. Price tag for those alone is €2400, and that is excluding installation Mr. Green
I took some pics with my phone, but below youtube website shows exactly what I saw this morning and those pics are better quality. The movie starts with a long ad for my local Geneva dealer which you can skip.
When you see it live, this Startech Defender is not less than a gem,.... including the price Whistle

Interesting to hear about the first person who has installed these Nolden LED headlamps. Happy with them? Wonder how they would compare with the Speakers which many of us are using (including myself) You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

I have the Speakers myself and they are absolutely great, also the looks of them. But now that I have seen the Nolden live, can only admit that they look at least equally good on a Defender.

Forgot to say, but also Kahn was there with a Defender, and that one had the 3rd type of LED front lights, those sold by Mud, with the ring of 10 smaller LEDs all around which is the high beam, and two more in the middle for the low beam. Those in my opinion look like Christmas Tree lights. Rolling Eyes Definitely a no go for a noble machine like a Defender Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. Those ones with the ring of LED's are sold by Hella here in the UK and are originally made by Trucklite.

As for my thoughts on the Nolden, I think these look better than the JW speakers as its more traditional looking and therefore less easy to spot they are LED ones when switched off!
These also have a much higher IP rating than JW Speaker too which are rated at IP68 but the Nolden ones are at IP69k which is completely sealed against total immersion and pressure washing.

Light output is very good as it happens and im looking forwards to meeting someone with a JW speaker fitted defender to compare! Crisp white light with proper beam pattern. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)

Ada, nope I havent and a fish tank isn't a river crossing or a flood at speed is it?

Im going off the IP rating and the Nolden's are higher than JW Speakers. got these ratings off each manufacterers spec sheets on their websites.

Ive used my 110 in a few river crossings now and snow drift bashing and varying temperatures with no issues at all.

Each are good units and I bought these as I preferred the look and had a higher IP rating. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold)
