Not bothered by it. I have my pay split between my UK and Cyp bank accounts.

My Cyp account is for spending money- so shopping, fuel, drinking etc. Then my UK deposit is for online orders, and savings.

This means mid month I normally have minimal pennies in the account ( a wallet is for storing money out here) so will only pick up a £30-50 charge which will then be refunded by the UK tax payer........ which means the UK tax payer is partially paying for the Cyprus bailout!!

Some people are worried..... but the charge is 6.75% and it is a one-off payment. So yes people will be a little short this month but then it is all over and they should have their bailout.

I think it is bad but at the same time it is the best way to do it rather than raise taxes over the year and find other ways of scamming money out of everyone. One hit and then carry on as normal.

This will also hit the Russian more than the locals which is a good thing Thumbs Up

*Edit* Besides, it is just money. I am happy and enjoying the free things in life at the moment Thumbs Up

Well, looks like the Defender will have to go Big Cry

Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Yeah whatever. Spirts here are up. We just had the Limassol Carnival this weekend where people completely forgot about the crisis and just cracked on as normal. Here are a few things that have been been popping up on Facebook (just took the ones in English for you guys):

Then since yesterday when the Cypriot government declared they will not take the money from it's citticens and say no to the EU's policies:

Also, many places now have sales on to combat the fact that it looked like people would be 6.75% poorer..... but has now not happened Thumbs Up

Lets see what happens next....................

Many are favouring a Russian bail-out followed by leaving Europe and going back to the Cyprus Pound (something they should never have given up!!)

This is the kind of recent information that shocked me:

"According to Moody’s ratings agency, Russians keep $19 billion in Cypriot banks, nearly as much as Cyprus’ entire GDP. Russian banks have an additional $12 billion invested and have loaned another $40 billion to Cypriot companies of Russian origin.
The island is also a popular vacation destination for Russians. Aside from the financial benefits, the weather is decidedly more attractive than in Moscow. Some parts of the island even have signs written in Russian."

And they are proud to "beat the evil Germans" (who are actually leading the EU in trying to drag these countries out of their own excrement) and borrow more Rubles Shocked

So much for national identity - long live mother Russia! Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...
