With the NFU did you phone "Head Office" or speak to someone in a local branch? I'm lucky with living in a rural area plus the local branch is only 2 miles away on the way into Hereford.

I would ring the local NFU up. Say you are there on recommendation from a friend who has all his insurances with the NFU and things they are great. Suggest that you may look to do the same. Tell them the best other quotes but concede that yeah the NFU is probably going to be a few quid more maybe because they are offering a better service and see where you get to. My insurance quote was just short of £1000 and this approach, which led to the local agent ringing the underwriters and negotiating for me, led to 40% off.

Tried the local agent approach, so far the best is £1200, AXA, Admiral etc are £400 but won't cover the battery set up. Perhaps I will leave an additional battery for a while.
