Oil from crankcase vent hose
Hi all

The Rover V8 engine in my D110 has oil coming out of the crankcase vent hose Big Cry

My mechanic here in Canada does not normally work on Rover engines so I have some questions. He thinks there might be some modifiation or alteration to the PCV system that will stop the oil from coming out.... but it sounds to me that the rings might need to be done

The compression is at 90-125psi whereas the manual says it is 135 minimum. The engine only has 120,000km on it

Any suggestions

How much oil are you losing?

PCV is PCV, it doesn't matter what sort of mechanic you are an engine is an engine.

Lets say its spitting enough to be noticable but not covering everything. He was saying that it is exesive blow by, he is thinking most likely from the rings? Anyone have any thoughts?

My current plan is to park it and get the engine out once the summer rolls around.

Cheers

it sounds to me that the PCV needs replacing. Is there a breather filter on the engine? its the same as a fuel inline filter and that gets blocked and needs regular replacement
