Bought a winch!
Finally...Goodwinch KDS 10. David assured me it would fit my Mantec bumper cradle http://www.mantec.co.uk/images/products/fu...0A-BAr.jpg

Got all the wiring gubbins, just need to get it fitted now. March as it will be too much expense for my Feb budget.
The bumper, rubber A bar etc to be fitted at same time.

I am keeping wire rope, as the blue synthetic rope is too bright. Are any such made in black, brown or dark green? Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. They have the Dyneema winch rope in grey, and Amsteel synthetic can be had in green. (seen them on ebay)

Otherwise just get a black sleeve - on of those to protect against abrasion - to cover up the blue.

The synthetic rope sure is easy to handle and weighs practically nothing.

Thanks for the tip, I'll check those out.

Has anyone been on a LRE winching course? If so are they any good? I would like to learn safe handling as usually go out solo. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Its come. Very heavy. Synthetic rope has more appeal now (& for less weight on front, also mpg considerations).

I'd want a dark inconspicuous colour...looking. Razz Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. Not a fashion vehicle, but fashionable to own. Made for the needy, not the greedy. Ta ta Defender
