you can either take the whole dash cluster out by uncliping the wiring harness on the back, or you can remove the black peice which is again just clipped in place, as i did on mine you know the walnut bit on mine- is this what your talking about

Yep, that bit Chris. Not much point in taking the lot out but that bit can just be taken out on it's own rings fitted then positioned back in place right?
