The quickest benefit I saw was NoiseKiller in the rear tub. Especially on wet roads, the spray noise from the rear wheelarches was very noisy. A noisekiller kit will/did cut 90% of this out.
Since then I have bought the noisekiller kit to the front (seat boxes, footwells, and bulkhead). Not quite as pronounced an improvement, but did imporve things a bit. One day I'll try Dynamat to the upper body in the rear, to reduce noise further, but so far I'm happy, can use the radio on lower volumes, and talk to passengers without shouting...makes long journeys soo much nicer  Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's) |

@martink - i did the same, full NK kit. Makes a big difference and the tour around France quite quiet for a Defender BM52

And although this won't help with a V8.... DGARDEL was looking at installing a 2.2 tdci engine acoustic cover on a 2.4 ...expected to make a good difference but as yet untested

I've used the whole NK kit available and it worked for me, less road, engine noise and I can talk to the person next to me. May be worth seeing if you have anyone close who have used other options and see, well hear the difference? _______________________________

Dynamat all the way
 It is waterproof so won't soak up any water (unlike open cell which is majority of the noisekiller kit) Very easy to fit, and works out about the same £££££. There is a group buy option on here. You can also put on multi layers if necessary, and cover every pannel, unlike the kits, which cover most. Look in the ultimate ice thread, I've just done mine, and there's pictures of others. |

So for those who have done a 90... what do I need and how much of it? Assume I could or might eventually insulate everything, doors, roof, rear tub front cabin Then assume I can use a normal rubber fitted matt set on top afterwards? Cheers Nick |

I have used 120 sq ft so far- Didn't do the roof as have full headlining , Just the doors left to do, which I estimate will be another 24 sq ft. Mine is a hard top though, so I have done the sides as well. Should estimate to do all your 90 will be about 120 sq ft. Think that works out about 3 of the bulk kits.(36 sq ft a pack). You want normal Dynamat, a heat gun and a small hard roller. I used waterproof aluminium tape on the seams, although you don't have too. You can just lay your mats on top, or use spray adhesive. The only problem with sticking them in, you can't get them out should you need too.
Clean metal with something like white spirit/meths cut mat to shape, peel of backing, and use the heat gun and roller to get it to stick like  to a blanket, and follow the contours. Start one side of the sheet and work your way slowly across and you'll have no air bubbles. Simples |

Dynamat all the way, just done the floor and load area . Due to ill health I have put off doing the roof, and couple of other jobs. However the improvement already has been quite good.
