Imobiliser problem need to rewire it
Ok , long story but whilst trying to remove part of my wiring loom , which had shorted out on the gearbox, at 23.30 in the freezing cold , I was doing well disconnecting all the various connection around the engine ,after spending some time trying to feed the wires through under the passenger seat so the immobiliser could remain connected to the loom , I finally had enough and decided to cut the loom by the black box ! , I know! but like I say it was cold and late and I had been out there for 2 hours ! I convinced myself that the wires would be colour coded so would be easy to reconnect , how wrong was I , that part of the loom contains 7 black wires ! And now I don't have a clue which one goes where , I can find out what part of the loom they go to but how do I work out where they go to ! , was going to open up the black box but guess I still need a wiring diagram of the immobiliser , and these are quite rightly hard to find . The alternative would be to bypass the immobiliser . Which I would do for short term just to get the defender back on the road for this snow we are having .

I recently replaced the Datatool alarm on my motorcycle. Most alarm, immobiliser systems now come with black cables that are idented for the installer by heatshrink/coloured sleeves thast either get removed or cut off upon installation, this obviously deters any potential thief that may have any level of intelligence about the system.
Unfortunately from what you describe you have no option but to try and source a wiring diagram and 'bell the cables out' with a multimeter or take it to an accredited installer/dealer perhaps?
Will not mention anything about identifying the cables before you cut them, but I DO sympathise.....been there, done that, got the friggin' T-shirt.....NEVER again! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

Hi Martin thanks for your reply , feel as though I'm capable of finding which wires go where in the loom , like you say just need a wiring diagram of where they go in the immobiliser .
Yes lesson learnt re cutting the wires was late and cold and wanted to get the loom out do I could take it into work the next day , just assumed that they would be different colours argh !
Any one know where I can get a wiring diagram ?
