I've fitted a couple of winches, wouldn't say that would make me an expert though.
But you should be able to get the old bumper off, new one fitted and winch mounted within a morning. I tend to spray WD40 on the original nuts and bolts coming off over a few days before hand. Depends on the condition of them though. Put all the nuts and bolts back together with a coating of Copper slip/never seize, it makes things a lot easier to get apart agin in the future. The more time consuming bit will be running in the cables, especially if you don't have a ramp. Ideally they should be in a conduit to protect them. Make sure you run them where they can't be damaged and secure them well. Abrasion through vibration is a big cause of failures, and you don't want the positive arcing to your chassis. Conduit will reduce the chances. Plan in advance where you're going to put your isolator switch or solenoid depending what sort you have. Make sure you've got everything in advance. Good luck |
