Wheres my oil gone...
I've not used the Landy for nearly a month now, as I've been mosty driving around town in a shoebox, so it's been standing on the drive unused and looking unloved! Sad times.

Anyway, yesterday fancied a bit of a play in it, so started it up and it chucked out a cloud of black smoke as it started, never done that before, but didn't think anything of it. Left it idling while the windows demisted and I sorted the dog out, when I noticed it was chucking out a bit of blue smoke at tickover, gave it a small rev and it chucked quite a lot out.

Turned it off and checked the oil level and there appeared to be not a lot in. Last time I checked was about a month ago and it was about 80% the way up the dipstick, and it's only been to Ripon and back since then.

Didn't fancy running it with low oil so was going to stock up today, although I stumbled upon a few forum posts saying that Pumas are quite fussy when it comes to their oils.

Sooooo, what will be safe to top it up with so I can use it before I book it in for a service? It's done nearly 9k so its a bit early like, but never mind eh....

If you checked the oil just after turning she off, most probably lots of oil was somewhere else in the engine. Do it when she is cold or after 5-10 mins after turning off. Puma 110" SW

Doh Embarassed

Just checked it again after it was standing all day - half full. Or half empty. I'll get it topped up before I use it again still.

Cheers Smile

Yup.

No it's not chipped, totally standard at the mo.

I'll be booking it in for a service at some point over the next couple of weeks, so will ask them to have a goose.

Most probably. Depends if Brock or Ribblesdale will be cheaper lol. Most probably will be Hillendale though, it's a bit of a trek otherwise. Had pretty good service from them so far so hopefully it'll continue
