Hi all,
Thought i would start a topic to keep you all up to date with how the rebuild of our 200tdi Defender 130 'Snoopy' is progressing. Firstly, a little bit of information about what Drive4Change is and the charity we are doing all of this for. My name is Steve. I am the Manager of a Marstons Inn (pub and hotel) in Somerset called Admirals Table. The Drive4Change Team consists of myself, and my senior management team, Tony, and Ben. World Record Expedition... Over the next few months, we will be stripping and rebuilding our 4th team member, Snoopy. He is a 200tdi Land Rover Defender 130. As Snoopy came to us...  Click image to enlarge We are looking for donations of parts, advice and assistance from various companies in order to achieve this task. In exchange for the help we receive from companies, we are more than happy to advertise them on both our website, which will soon be live at www.drive4change.co.uk, and also on our completed vehicle. We intend to receive a lot of media attention for this project and have already been approached by several media outlets including LRO (Landrover Owner International). Thus far, we have been very successful in gaining donations of a number of parts and services from various companies, including several users of this forum. The sole purpose to raise the profile of our chosen charity bibic while raising as much money as possible for them also and breaking the current record of 11 DAYS 14 HOURS 11 MINUTES set in 2010 by Mac MacKenney, Chris Rawlings and Steve MacKenney. Prior to the 2010 expedition, this record had stood for 47 years. 'From high-speed motorways, across desert tracks and pot-holed roads, this journey is a true test of man and machine.' The Route... Our intended route is as follows: EUROPE UK - France - Belgium - Holland - Germany - Austria - Slovenia - Croatia - Serbia - Bulgaria ASIA Turkey - Syria - Jordan AFRICA Egypt - Sudan - Ethiopia - Kenya - Tanzania - Zambia - Zimbabwe - South Africa bibic...
Each year, hundreds of thousands of children are born with brain conditions that affect their social communication and learning abilities. bibic is a national charity offering practical help to families caring for children with conditions like autism, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, developmental delay, brain injury, and specific learning difficulties like ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia. After taking a tour of the BIBIC assessment centre and meeting some of the families touched by the charity, it was clear that we wanted to do anything we could to help. Together we can help a disabled child smile for the first time, play with friends, catch a ball or say 'I love you' after years of being unable to communicate. Well worth the effort! 'Drive 4 Change' was born! Clearly this is a mammoth task and one which will require a lot of work and dedication. On behalf of bibic and the 'Drive4Change' team, we want to thank everyone that has chosen to help us and hope some of you reading this may be able to offer us assistance, or simply make a donation. If you feel that you can help us in any way, or you would like any more information from us, please do not hesitate to send us a pm. So...what stage are we at now... After several days of carefully stripping the body off of Snoopy we rolled him out of his temporary home, kindly donated to us by Wessex Plastics of Bridgwater... Click image to enlarge He is now at a local Land Rover Specialist - Causeway4x4. There expert knowledge and equipment will make the chassis swap onto the New Galvanised Chassis donated to us by Marsland Chassis UK far easier! 
That brings us to the present situation. We will be updating this topic regularly with lots of pictures and information. Hopefully you will find this interesting. We are extremely excited about getting stuck into the rebuild and i am sure we will be calling on you all for advice! |
