any pointers for driving in this area ,is it safe? what are the LAWS? motorway tolls? ANY HELP

Safe? Its a city, apply the same common sense as you would for travelling in any large European city I suppose  |

There are no problems with driving in the Czech Republic - I even took my series one there this year! You have to have sidelights on all the time unless you have DRL's and you will also need a vignette, these can be bought at the border, or petrol stations on motorways etc. Unlike places like Switzerland, you buy them for the number of days you need, not a full year.
Are you going anywhere particular in Prague? (watch for the trams BTW), because you are not far from Kutna Hora, which is a fascinating little town, and which was also featured on "The Long Way Round" with Euan McGregor and Charley Boreman, as they visited the Church of Bones - www.sedlecossuary.com/ http://www.kutnahora.cz/index.php?lns=en

Agree with all above.
Watch speed limits, you won't drive a day without passing a speed control. Mostly speedgun but also multanova. And do remember 0 tolerance for alcohol, do not take a risk with this as you are guilty in case of an accident, etc etc. 0 means 8 hours no driving after 3 beers. (good point here is that Czech beers are half liters  but have lower alcohol content  )

Not sure on your accommodation plans, but if you are camping, check out Trio Camp (www.triocamp.com). We have stayed there twice, on the way back from Poland and Slovakia. It's on the outskirts of the city, and close enough for a bus-ride in if you don't want the hassle of trying to park the Landy. They also have wooden camping cabins and a nice cafe that does breakfasts and evening meals. Also, good Czech beer. 2012 Defender Utility Wagon
