the new 6000 Euros French Taxe for the defender.
Here in France, our f***ing socialist government has invented a new tax : 6'000 Euros for all the new defenders ! That the programmed end of Defender in France, far before the DC100.

Sorry to hear that, any more details abt this? Does not only affect Defenders of course, guess more of the big engine cars???
An attempt by your *uck*** socialist government to stop people buying quality and sell a few Peugeots that nobody wants anymore? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Here in Belgium it is even worse Big Cry
A new Defender, registered as a car, will cost 10.000€ to get it on the road.
Only when you buy a utility model (DCPU, HCPU, etc) you can avoid this heavy tax.

Rumors are that soon also this will change .... Embarassed Peter,

Other than a money-making exercise for the government, what's the point of that? To make people buy smaller cars?

Currently there is a new 110 SVX for sale at our local dealer. With taxes it is Euro 115.000,- (this is no joke!).
The Special Piet Boon version is Euro 117.000,- (2.4 Puma).

The French don't need point to do anything. They do as they please because they are French and believe they are above all else. Generally speaking they do not like the British, a poke in the eye to our industry is fair game. Plus, why would you need to buy a foreign car when you can buy a Peugeot Rolling Eyes

They are without doubt the strangest breed on this planet, nothing they do surprises me anymore. Actually that's no true, it still surprises me that they can actually function as a country. Nick

Shocked Blimey Surrey! Say what you think why not? I spend quite a considerable amount of time in France in St Malo and in mitigation find it a beautiful place. If it weren't for the fact I have commitments here, there would be an oportunity to be France based and I would give due consideration. Bang for buck....your money goes a lot farther there than here, so it's not all bad....there are good and bad to all sides.....

Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

lol, maybe a bit harsh. I have a house there and family, I know it well. I have over a long period of time been ground down by their sheer stupidity and quite frankly bizarre ways. Still it's their country and I am but a visitor. Lovely place though, until you want to get something done Laughing Nick

Agree totally... Thumbs Up I have a mate of mine who is a builder. He often heads to France to carry out building/renovation works and he is in such demand. Even the locals don't like the French builders 'ethos' when it comes to getting a job done professionally and expediently.
Laid back? More like horizontal he says..... Laughing If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
