I really love my 90CSW and I would do anything to keep it should a 3rd child appear. At the moment we are a family of 4 and we love going on holiday etc in my Landie, question is, what do I do when the wife tells me we're having #3 (apart from the chop
 )
I don’t want to trade it in for a 110 as I have always had 90's and spend 99% of the time in it on my own commuting 350 miles pw to/from work. My inspiration - I think I may have had a good idea and wanted to know what other people thoughts were and what legal implications (if any) would be involved if I removed the current passenger seat and cubby box and replaced them with - http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trk...ouble+seat If the link disappears do a search on eBay for Ford Transit double seats, there's loads of them! I like the idea as the centre seat already has a seat belt attached so I would only have to fix an anchor point for it. If it's legal in a transit then why not a Land Rover? Any thoughts much appreciated  |

Mate I understand ur dilema and had to get rid of my lovely T plate cobar blue 90CSW 300Tdi when our first one appeared !
I bought a 110 and hated it ! With the arrival of the forward facing rears I ordered one and I too have no intention of getting shut of it, We have a Border Terrier who occupys one rear my son occupys the other, I've been flapping like a wind sock for some time now cos the Mrs has on more than one occasion mentioned doubling our monthly outgoings by bringing up the subject of another one ! Could u not adapt the rear into one long bench for 3 little ones ? Just a thought ! DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |

I have thought of putting a normal car rear type seat in the back, then using front seats out of a coupe car so they fold forward allowing kids to get in the back. Ps already have a dog (german shepherd) she just squeezes is in between the back seats at the mo! |

It sounds like you're going to a lot of work just to avoid a 110.
I swapped over from a 90 to a 110 2 years ago and haven't looked back. Disadvantages are:
Load bay is shorter than the 90 (although you can put the seats down and then it is obviously a lot longer) Worse fuel consumption (not much different in reality and the 90 isn't amazing - although I know yours is) 90 looks really cool 90 is better off road A pain to park on retail parks with their ridiculously small spaces Advantages are:
More stable if you're pulling anything Much nicer ride (the SWB is very choppy in comparison with the LWB) Increased length of load bay if needed 110 is better for touring 110 looks really cool too + New Defender 110 First Edition |

cant you fit the center seat in the front and put the eldest there? then there will 3 front and 2 rears

Can you use the situation to justify the purchase of a Discovery 1? They're cheap enough, would hold five easily, and allow you to leave your 90 unmolested.
I was looking at my cubby box only yesterday, and thinking where on earth would somebody's right leg fit if that was a seat. Would a baby seat fit between the front seats to house the potential fifth, and buy you a year or two? Peter 2008 SWB Truck Cab 1952 80" Soft top |

Start adding seats and you will run into big problems with your insurer's.
I think you will find there has been a recent change in Construction and Use regulations which prevents 2007 + Defenders from being fitted with front centre seat and rear side facing seats. Cradge Richard Either a 90, 110 or 130. Discovery 5 |

Yes I can confirm you can fit a child seat (above 9 months) at the middle seat. I removed the cushion material from the back support to get a little more space to change gear.
My little boy loved it. I used the centre seat belt so it was legal and additional I used a rathed band to give it more stability. From the moment my son was 1 year old he went with me off-roading and really loved sitting there having a good view what was going on. When he got a little older I had to fidle between his legs to get the 90 in 4th gear. When he was 3 and my dauther appeared. I changed from my beloved 90 V8 to a 1997 Camel discovery. It was almost as good off-road and had more space and luxury. I think my Camel was my most practical car till now. I didn't have the luxury and speed off my D3 G4 but it was more allround. In fact my Camel is replaced by two LR's my G4 for the miles, holidays and light off-roading and a 90 for the real off-roading.
