You should get a good price on the old wheels as they are coming hard to get now and no longer made in that style. If you go by the BFG web site you should not put 255's on 8.5 inch wheels as it is out of their range (too wide by half an inch). I really want to replace my 285's with 255's but cannot justify the cost at this time even if I sold my compomotives to help pay for them.

Nick,

18" ZU's do look good on a Defender, and I can supply a narrow set of wheel adaptors now....

Hi Ian,

Did you mean to send me a pic of my old 90? Smile When Malcolm took it it had 16" Zu's in Anthrecite. Certainly a consideration.. what would be the best tyre size and type? Would still go Grey though.
How much do the adapters add to the price?

BTW, may want to speak to you re lights options too! did send you a mail.

Cheers

Nick

Yes lol.... I thought you'd like to a see a picture....

The 16" Zu alloys are actually on another customers Defender now - not a problem if pictures needed.

If 18" wheels - 275 70 18's are a good size for standard or lifted suspension... and you get a good choice of tyres.

Narrow Adaptors work out about £450 + vat (come with new drive flanges). These are properly made, not the Mickey Mouse type ones that are around! It means the wheels sit further under the arched, and improve Scrub Angle.

Will send you an email back later.

Its changed a LOT since Nick owned it... The new owner had a big shopping list!

It was nice Defender when Nick owned it - but is an absolute beast now.

Looks even better in the dark!

It was actually better than nice in my opinion Laughing but an awful lot more has been done, especially on engine, brakes etc

I cannot get pics up on here but have mailed them to Ian, should he be kind enough to post up Smile

Anyway... What bl**dy wheels am I going to have?
Also, can I get wider nice arches to fit if required rather than all the screws being seen etc?

Will do...

And Yes, I can supply wider arches... that don't need extra screws...

Wheels wise i have not been able to get my mate to budge Evil or Very Mad , sorry but now seeing that on the ZU's that would be my choice as thats what i think i will be doing as soon as i can on mine i think.

Just a idea what about the D3 19 inch 7 spoke wheels in black with Goodyear mtr 255/55/19?

The D3 wheels fit with adaptors, but the 255/55/19 wheels are a bit small on a Defender if running standard height suspension... however, if the suspension is lower than standard... 255 55 19's look good....

Wish i could have that wheel and tyre combo on mine but got to have the new saw tooth wheels and MTRs that it comes with first as cant justify buying new when i have the new set already but really its just the tyres on mine as i like the 265 more then the 235 as they look a little thin Laughing

I do love the ZU tho Thumbs Up so i think if it was me it would be the ZUs or Disco/RRS wheels?

The 235 85 16's don't look too bad... definitely better with a proper set of 30mm wheel spacers though - which also gives you a much improved steering lock.
