HD Springs
Recomendations please...

I have been looking at flatdog, ome (only come as a lift unfortunatley) and new OEM springs.

Does anyone have flatdog springs onn their truck?

Are they any good?

Are they std height or like a certain company who state std heigh when they are shorter than oem.

My main problem is i wish to keep the std ride height or as close to it as possible.

Cheers

OME +30mm looks good with 265 75 x 16 tyres. Good springs and ride, ideal if your loading the back up or use a roof tent. 2007 TD5 90 Hard Top

I ran mine with HD Genuine springs on the back, and the original backs on the front for about a year .... swapped it back to standard as it made it a bit too harsh and choppy.

Putting the standard rear springs on the front [As LR do as the HD upgrade] lifted the front of mine by nearly 2 inches

A heavy duty spring will lift your vehicle if it's the same free length as a softer spring. If you want HD and also want to maintain the same ride height you'll need a spring with a shorter free length.

As an example, a standard 90 rear spring is 388mm long but on a typical unladen 90 will compress to 290mm.
An HD Britpart std rear spring is 12mm shorter but at the same weight as above will sit about 10mm higher. The Land Rover HD rear spring is more or less the same rate as the Britpart one as far as I can tell - most of the data on the internet is wrong for this spring as they have it the same as the std rear.

As the weight goes up the difference increases, add an extra 320Kg in the back and the standard spring will sink to 250mm whereas the shorter HD spring will sink to 270mm - 20mm higher than standard. That's why it's "HD"

If someone is advertising an HD spring that's longer than standard and is advertised as standard height then there is something VERY wrong with their specs. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Good comparison here ....

Two idendical 90's other than the TD5 on the road has genuine HD suspension, the Puma on the drive has standard springs.

The height difference is quite noticeable ... only spec difference is the TD5 has worn 235/85 tyres, and the puma has new 265/75's ... tyre height is almost the same give or take an inch.

Hijacking the thread, but quick question...

Can i put HD LR genuine springs on the front of my 110 utility and maintain the LR warranty. Would LR have to fit them as well to maintain the warranty? Reason is the aftermarket bumper and winch weight has a big difference when on the standard springs in respect of clearance.

Would this also class as a modification for insurance purposes if LR did it?
Thumbs Up

Tack

Warranty tends to be at the discretion of the warranty bod at the dealer. In short, it depends on the amount of damage done by having fitted it.

I've got the HD 110 springs on the front of my 10MY. Puts the front where it was supposed to be before the bull bar and winch.

TACK... is the winch bumper and winch Land Rover approved and was it fitted by Land Rover?

Reason I ask is because if the dealership wants to squirm their way out of a warranty claim for front suspension they will just do it because of the winch and bumper...... or wheels and tires if they weren't approved and fitted by Land Rover certified technicians.

Best way forward would be to talk to your service desk at the dealership you use. I know when I was in Ripon the workshop wouldn't have cared in the slightest.

To be honest, just fit the Genuine springs and say they were fitted from factory.
