I must admit that mine surges since putting a de-cat on.... normally starts at about 1,000rpm and then stops when I change gear...... then it starts all over again when I put my foot on the pedal....

As pointed out above, if your source has a cr@p map it will exaggerate any flat spots which could feel like 'surging'.

Isn't surging a characteristic of a turbo engine? My bog standard Puma does it, floor it then go for the brake and it'll keep on rocking for about half a second or so. Bit unnerving at first but you get used to it.

If you're going through a motor factors just ask for the front pipe for a pre 2002 model. Discovery and Defender Td5 downpipes are the same so get them to get the exhaust catalogue out and go through it with them cross referencing the Defender one and the Discovery one.
