i think on a td5 it shuts the flow off to the matrix.so yes you could tap in before hand. The heat these things pump out it will do the engine and a couple of heaters easily. there 5 kw which is quite alot.

im gonna fit one of these under the rear seat http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Blown-Air-Wa...4abbc0db82 that way with the thermo top on it will heat everything

I'm goining to PM you with the heater that I have! 3.8Kg! Mines smaller tham that and produces 4Kw from under the cubbybox. The kids complain that they are cooking after one hour in winter!
