Re-water proofing a maggiolina roof tent
During a massive thunder storm, my Maggi leaked a little bit so I was looking at re proofing it. What have people used? I have some fabsil but I'm not sure if this is ideal.

Thanks

Another question, are you sure it was a leak and not a small amount of condensation?

It came through the fabric, only a little bit mind and only on the side of the howling wind, the other side was dry as a bone.

The roof tent fabric is both breathable and waterproof. In extreme conditions yes the fabric may leak.

OK apply waterproof spray to the fabric you might improve the waterproof ness but will you decrease it's breath ability.

Personally I would see how the fabric behaved in more normal conditions before applying a fabric waterproof spray.

So consider carefully, we're the conditions extreme? Was the leakage small?

If yes and yes I personally would hold fire on the spray just yet.

If your looking for a waterproofing spray have a look at Nikwax - we use it on our mountaineering jackets and tents (on my mountain leader course it stayed waterproof all week whereas others jackets breached within two hours... Whistle )

Brendan - as ever, sound advice and you are probably right. It was extreme weather and it wasn't massive leakage, almost like condensation.

TR51 - agree on the nikwax, i'd probably use that when it does need doing.

Thanks for the responses. Thumbs Up

you can use an extreme weather 'cagoule' on maggi, its meant for the cold i think but works very well in heavy rain, stops the ingress around the zips etc. Cheers
