Still bombing Germany - video
This happened in Munich last night in the area where my daughter lives (fun starts at 25 seconds):

http://vimeo.com/48399328

It was a WWII flying bomb found during excavation work. It often happens round here but this was particularly cool Thumbs Up
Thousands were evacuated before the "controlled" explosion, then the whole bloody lot went up Shocked
Several houses were badly damaged with roofs on fire afterwards.

Nice to know the Allied Forces are still making their presence felt Rolling with laughter Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

Weird to think we make so much fuss about these occasional things, when 70 years ago it was a nightly occurrence Shocked Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing...

funny how time heals.

My wife's grandfather was a fireman during the blitz in London and saw things that are too horrible to mention every night, courtesy of Adolf. But in later years he would only ever drive Audis ('not that Leyland rubbish') Strange

That does get my goat actually, folks who "hate Germans" (hey, we are only all related to them...) yet drive audis, vws, hve bosch electrical items etc etc...crazy. Kind of like my neighbour who at the time of the Jubilee, Olympics etc gets all his union flags out and puts them all over his house and his citroen... Rolling with laughter

Do you know what sort of flying bomb it was? I'm interest in this stuff.

My mum always tells me how terrifying the V1 & 2’s were.

My late father who served in both Africa and Italy had the greatest respect for the regular German army. He was wounded, captured then patched up by a German Army doctor before escaping while being shelled by the Americans (and I thought I was having a bad week). Between the 1st and 2nd WW’s my family has almost been wiped out. The only male line are now thriving in Canada. Out of nine children only two daughters (one was a nurse in both wars) and one son survived the wars. I found it only natural to also serve as soon as I was old enough.

It states aerial bomb in the english text of the original post,i would take this to mean a bomb dropped by a plane as opposed to an artillery shell.Pretty spectacular explosion whatever it was. 2005 Td5 90 XS

It was a 550 lb bomb, dropped by air. Vi & V2s that didn't make it far always exploded shortly after takeoff.

Not correct, plenty of V1's and V2's made it to England. Steve.
Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades.

[Insert something impressive here such as extensive list of previous Land Rovers or examples of your prestigeous and expensive items, trinkets, houses, bikes, vehicles etc]

I agree it wasn't "cool" for a few people but the damage is repairable, everyone is probably well insured, and I believe you might as well enjoy what you can in life (with respect to those who can't). It was going to go off anyway and a couple of thousand people had fun for the evening out of something that may have killed their grandparents 70 years ago Thumbs Up

That being said, a lot of dogs had to cross their legs for several hours Shocked

"Aerial" bomb is correct - having lived here so many years I've got a bit lazy with my translations Embarassed Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
