Thanks Gents - interesting comment from Glyn re over-charging the battery. I think if I do go ahead with the solar (rather than bringing the battery into my house), I'll use the solar panel occasionally rather than constantly.

Having said that, we're thinking of buying a motorhome anyway, so the solay panel could get two uses - I can use it for chargin the aux battery in the motorhome when we're "wild camping". Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)
