Our new Caravan (and first outing too!) Bailey Olympus 2 - fixed bed, lounge and decent shower/loo - perfect for two of us. Ran for a whole week on 12v and gas, no problems, even had enough juice to hitch it up with the aid of the motor mover!
Trust us to pick a site on a slope, nice view of the lake at the bottom of the field though and due to all the bad weather previously a lot of campers and groups had cancelled apparently, so we had most of the field to ourselves. Note our Ruby in picture - this will save me posting on the 'show us you dogs thread' as well! dj says in his post that they were on a slope, so to park level they'll have had to jack up the front. Always looks a bit weird like that though, unless viewing from an angle where you can see something else horizontal to compare it to! As the picture is taken from further down the slope the perspective scews all the angles. Because the photographer is down-slope and taking the picture across the scene there is no point at which you can get a horizontal feature to compare it to. Any money if they had taken the pic standing opposite the caravan door it would have looked perfectly level.
We annually stay at the camp site next to the NY Off Road Centre and all the pitches slope. You can sit in your van and look at the other vans and every one of them - up or down field from you all look wrong, but check the spirit levels on the front shelf and they are all as close to level as you'd reasonably get! Trust me it was horizontal both ways, as a first time trip I didn't,t want to get it wrong (just in case there was anyone watching) so we spent a bit of time getting it right. It did end up being quite high up at the front and almost on the ground at the back but we didn't want to have our g&t sliding off the table
The skyline is obscured by trees but if you compare with the bottom of the pic it's parallel as far as I can see ( mind you might have had a couple by the time I took the pic) And yes that's a sock - not strictly caravan club but thought I'd dry it out after a slight river incident

 , well done. Good idea using the ramp under the jockey wheel. I guess in comparison all your future pitching will seem a doddle  |

Our first trip when we bought our last van was to Stowford Farm in Devon. That tested my pitching skills as we were diagonally across a slope and the van was a 26' twin axle job. One rear corner was near enough dug in the slope whilst the opposite front had the steady on all the blocks I posessed and was on it's limit. We also discovered the porch awning we had bought wasn't tall enough..........even the kids were escaping under the storm flaps let alone the dogs!

I have the same problem with our similarly sized twin axle. Any sort of significant slope is a nightmare. The worst I've had was at the Dorset Steam Fair last year where the pitch had a truly heroic side slope. Fortunately I'd been warned, so went prepared with an ample supply of wooden blocks to park one side up on. Some people were digging holes to set one wheel down into

Next two trips already planned, Midland Game fair (make a change to sleeping in the stand!) followed by the Nec caravan show (never thought I'd be doing that) and Land Rover factory tour on the monday so should be a good weekend. I won't be taking it to Aus in October though as apparently I'm being provided with a borrowed 4x4 and camper trailer, which will be interesting.
