Trust me Pete once you drive an 80 series landcrusier you'll never go back to defenders.

There are a few of those around here in the country side, well preserved, but still, I would not sell my Defender to exchange it for one of those, although must admit, always like them, have character too just like our cubes Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

The spec on the Ranger does put a big question mark over the Defender doesn't it. Why did they not make a 3.2 litre Puma Defender? Why no auto option, etc etc...sad really. I concluded years ago that Landrover don't really think very highly of the Defender themselves, or working vehicles in General, hence why the DC100 was a damp squib which quickly got shifted to being yet another "lifetyle" model. I have to say I would be amazed if there will be a pickup version of the DC100...

I appreciate how good they are Mike, but i would rather remove a Hornets nest from a holly tree naked than own a Land Cruiser. Laughing Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

I used to drive one of those 20 years ago and that one was nowhere near as in good a condition as that ebay one! I owned a Diahatsu F50 at the time, about the same size as a SJ410 along the same lines as the Toyota, and had the Japenese copy of a 2.5l BMC diesel. That thing would pull like a train but bloody scary towing anything as generally any trailer you put on the back was twice the size of the motor!

well i think he's done the right thing.

smart move as it does all YOU want. so it ain't a defender....but it will do what most of us ask of our defenders. but in far more comfort and space.

i love my defender...its a relic... it hasn't changed much over the years. Msybe to its detriment.

JLR need to get with the program. if ford can turn out a ute and jeep for less then JLR need to do the same.although i don't think there that interested if im honest.

I still hope they will come out with something, I think they were busy concentrating on saving the business with the Disco 3 RR sport and Freelanders and hopefully know they will do something good to the Defender. Keep the idea of the Defender but improve it. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

I love the jeep, really good piece of evolution design which is true to its heritage
first glance and you know exactly what it is

exactly what the dc100 does not do
