2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Santorini Black

Can you use Fellows Shredder oil to lubricate bolts?

As the topic says really. Need to lubricate some bolts to attach towball - can tighten dry or lubricate. Only oil I have that can be classed as "machine oil" is a bottle of Fellowes shredder oil.

I see no reason why not. However, why whould you need to unless they were very corroded? Towbar bolts are usually 8.8 grade M16s and need tightening to something like 200NM, so just wind them up!

Yeah went with dry in the end - wound up to 215 Nm
They are 8.8 grade M16s

Most published torque figures are for clean unlubricated fasteners (unless specifically stated otherwise).
