If we carry on much longer I think we could design the ultimate Defender soft top

I've just taken the roof off mine for the first time this year, and hope I'll get away with the Bimini hood for a few months. I have to say that days like today make up for the drafts and flapping over winter! I just need to unbolt the rear hoop and connecting bars later then it will be set for summer.

Ah yes, good point. I'm being lured to Strata Florida at some point so may leave it on there as a precaution!

Indeed, it is completely different. Series stick sets are fairly easy to find and use a 'shark tooth' rail above the screen whilst Defender uses a clamp arrangement. The two are not interchangable. I want a soft top Defender at some point as a second vehicle. I have the genuine, new side opening rear tailgate already - just need the rest. ![]() http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

I would absolutely love a soft top Defender just for the summer months. I realise this is somewhat excessive, which is why this is somewhat a pipe dream - a while off yet! But it certainly fuels the appetite seeing pictures of your guys' ones! Absolutely incredible!

might seem like a silly question but what does a rad blanket offer? |

In the winter it helps to heat the engine quicker, and being a TDI it will loose all heater temperature when stationary or driving slowly (green Laning etc). When wading it helps with the bow wave to stop water swamping the engine bay. In fairness mine is pretty water tight, so the main reason is Laning in winter.

Is there a conversion whereby you lose the front door frame?
What I mean by this is the frame that holds the glass, this stops it from looking like a true convertible IMO. It would be great to have just the front screen with maybe a discreet roll bar for protection and then nothing else but fresh air. Nick 2.2 110 Tipper |

I'm not too sure about that, I don't particularly want it to look like a true convertible, just a soft top 90, so I'd be inclined to keep the doors as they are. And wind the windows down. ![]() |

We just run around most of the time with the sides rolled up as it is easy and quick. Two photos I took this weekend. We do have a set of series door bottoms but I've not found the time to paint them yet.
