Funny that, I put scratches done by me as "battle scars", anything done by anyone else is vandalism and downright wanton destruction Embarassed
Mine has not got the tidiest bodywork. Years as a hack for police people, I think they used it as a climbing frame half the tine, it has dents all over, round the door handles where the uninitiated push in the skin of the door when they try to shut the doors from the outside Evil or Very Mad I was proud of myself in not adding any more untill a height restriction barrier decided to jump on the bonnet during a holiday near Settle, was just edging up to it to see if I could get under and just touched it with the roofrack to find it wasn't bolted to the top of the post Shocked Now that scar is still there along with the transferred council paint. Whistle I'll offroad quite happily, that scratchy Question lane on the plain was a bit tight with a roofrack, but when I see the kids walking round it trying to scrape the mud off with sticks or belt the panels to knock out the mud then I get a tadge protective. Woe betide them if they even look as though they are thinking of doing anything like that to any motor let alone mine Evil or Very Mad

For reasons too painful to describe (and embarrassing) I need to repair a small hole in the rear door. The simplest solution is to put a rivet through (hardly noticeable on a Defender). As the door is steel, I'll use Duralac anti corrosion on the rivet but is there any way to absolutely stop water from getting under the rivet head? I have creeping crack sealant but is there another "trick" to this kind of thing?

Here is your perfect solution. They will need you to drill plenty more holes in the backdoor for this use Rolling with laughter

http://www.carbuzz.com/news/2012/2/28/Land...l-7707543/ You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Used to have an old VW camper we painted like the Mystery Machine - eventually all the spot rust came through so we stuck "plaster" transfers over each patch - looked badly wounded but we loved it Thumbs Up

p.s. made myself feel better by removing the "recovery impossible" LR steering guard (top bolt was a real b*gger) and fitting the Nakatanenga one (no top bolt Smile)
Now got 2 recovery eyelets and looks a shedload better. Even managed not to puncture the radiator or knock a hole in the sump whilst doing it Laughing Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Sealed avdels just use a normal rivet gun, they look similar to a normal rivet, except you cannot see the break away end of the centre piece, its held inside the rivet.
