Aluminium Polish and Sealer
I was looking to get a steering guard and polish it up, but i know it will just go cloudy again so i looked around for a polishing kit for Alu which is easy enough to find.
What i am not sure about is what to use to seal it afterwards to keep it looking good.
I saw some stuff from the US called Zoop, it doesnt appear to be available here though.

Has anyone polished Alu before, is it worth sealing it?

Cheers,
Aff.

Ah yes,
I was looking at some industrial stuff with a warning label on it that had to be bought in 55L drums. LOL.

That will do nicely.
Thanks.

I did find these though, results look great but not to be found here:

That looks cool.

I did a mini rocker cover looked amazing for about 3 weeks and then started to corrode. So you can imagine a steering guard would last about 2 hours Rolling with laughter You cant polish a turd!

I'm sure that there's got to be some lorry experts around who can tell you how they keep their aluminium bodied bulk tippers so shiny Whistle

Only three weeks?
Hmm pity, maybe anodising is the way to go then.
I think there is a bloke local to me that can do it for reasonable money.

Thanks for the info. Smile

It might be a major amount of faffing around, but you can anodise the bits in your garage... Not a 5 minute job, but can be done for not too much outlay... We used to anodise paintball gun barrels in all sorts of wacky colours in the company workshop using a battery charger..

That was during the winter so there was salt and spray to deal with. You cant polish a turd!

Those home anodising kits look like a laugh, i will see if thats worth a try when the guard comes in.
Might be a giggle to try summat new, well that or a trip to A&E with chemical burns. Smile

I am not too near the sea so i reckon road salt in winter will be the worst on it, but if i just polish it up at least the summer months might look OK. I cant imagine i will want to lie under it with a billet cloth every sunday. lol.

Several options now to consider, cheers chaps. Thumbs Up

Not used it as a sealer, but as a metal cleaner, this stuff is probably the best you can get. My mobile supplier went bust around Christmas but it looks like someone is still importing it from the US. Great for chequer plate.
