STONELEIGH CANCELED
Posted: Tue Mar 06, 2012 6:44 pm Post subject:
Dear Land Rover Club

It is with great regret and disappointment that I email you to inform you that Land Rover Monthly will not be going ahead with Land Rover Max 2012.
After very careful consideration we have decided that the commercial prospects for the show in the current climate are not good, and it is better to make the decision to cancel now than to commit further financial and personal resource to the event. This also allows us to focus on the continuing success that is Land Rover Monthly.
Shows remain important to the Land Rover community as a way to meet up, network, and socialise with old and new friends. Land Rover Clubs have been an integral part of this scene, and a key element of Land Rover Max! I know that more Clubs than ever were looking forward to joining us at Stoneleigh in 2012. Unfortunately, with the economy still fragile, many exhibitors are looking to reduce their presence at Shows. Without their financial support the viability of Stoneleigh is at risk so we have taken the decision to cancel the show.
It is disappointing for us at Land Rover Monthly, and I am sure many of you were looking forward to attend as well. Rest assured we will continue to support Clubs through the pages in Land Rover Monthly, and we will be attending a number of shows ourselves throughout the year. Land Rover Monthly is going from strength to strength, and has recently posted another year on year increase in audited circulation. Our focus over the coming months will be to continue to develop and improve the magazine to ensure we cover the best of the Land Rover scene.
With Best Regards as always,

Geoff Love
Publishing Director

If organisers weren't so greedy, by asking vast sums of money off traders for stands, people would be able to come and have something to see !!!

Too many shows, too much cost involved.

It will all end up as one big Billing Show, like the good old days!

Yep, had a conversation along those lines with one of our forum sponsors just last week....

Even if stand space was cheaper, there are so many other expenses involved for traders to go to all the shows.

The stand space is actually quite cheap Embarassed as this is subsidised by the entrance price.

We do an indoor show in the NEC every two years which is free to get in but floor space is £300 per sqm with a minimum stand size of 9 sqm + VAT

.. that's a shame, I was looking forward to that. Perhaps smaller, cheaper sites would be better for all concerned?
