Td5 defender just cut out while driving
Well, not had it long. Just getting into the whole Landrover thing and enjoying it and it looks like my defender thinks I need initiating into the whole Land Rover scene.

Well I drove to Sainsburys 2 miles, shopped for 20 mins, then drove home and after 2 mins return journey the engine cut out.

Tried to re-start and there is no fuel pump noise.

Pulled out the relay (yellow one under drivers seat) and refitted, no change.

Got towed home and checked the relay, a 9v battery activates the relay so is it ok?

Could it be the immobiliser?

Thanks in advance for any replys, thought I would ask if anyone has had the same problem.

Know what I am doing tommorow.

Steve

It could be the immobiliser as you say, have you tried locking and unlocking then see if it fires. 2.4 90 XS

Hi Grockle,

Thanks for your reply.

Just fixed it. Smile Smile

The inertia switch had broken off the bulkhead and fell down.

So pleased it was something simple, started to get thoughts of fuel pump/ecu £££££££££££

Thanks again for your help.
