Ireland 2008 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Java Black
Battery light
Any Ideas Confused
came on after the transfer stick popped into N. Had in the low box coming out of a Very muddy field, obviously hadn't engaged H properly, so stuck it back in, right this time, reversing a little to be sure. This is when it came on, been on ever since Question
All seems well though, no problems, just the light. 08 Puma 90xs

Well had a good look around everything today including alternator, cheers for input Andy. Battery is fully charged. All is well as far as I can see.
Still the light is on???? 08 Puma 90xs

??? how does that make sure?

anyway, with a DVM check input to battery to confirm voltage goes up to 14.2ish when running at revs. Cheers

Nearly always have to reverse a little to get it to engage, when putting diff lock on/off or putting back into H.
Have had to do this with most of my 4x4s over the years. Don't know if this is right or not but doesn't seem to do any harm and gets the job done every time.

my multi meter says its ok, will get bat tested in the morn.

I am thinking it might be a dodgy earth and that it may be related to this resent squeak that has developed under the steering. column. 08 Puma 90xs

reversing, difflock - yep that can help disengage it. high to low or low to high, it wouldnt make any odds.

surely if the light it on then its not getting 12v to the other side of the bulb, its staying earthed through the alt. or its earthing the other way around? Cheers

Well the lights out now & turning off on start up as norm and has been for a few days now.
Had it all checked out with no problems found. Should be happy but think it might be back at some stage.
