replace alternator - how to / can I do it? | |
I think my alternator is broken, no signs on the dash but what started as a clicking/flapping noise soon turned into a squealing and screeking like bearing noise from engine bay and Mr AA who has a Puma is pretty sure it's the alternator, it also emitted a fail smell!
So I want to take it off to have it tested but according to the workshop manual I need 'special tools' to remove the viscous fan. Is this true or can I just use a normal fan spanner?
Has anyone removed the alternator and is it easy? is there anything I need to be aware off?
Any help would be gratefully received Puma 07 hard top expedition prep.

Standard fan hub spanner and something to lock the pulley up with .... not hard to do. Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant.
