Nearly 2.5 months from breakdown to being returned.
Get this….. LR Assist guy diagnosed DC-DC converter on the drive. It’s taken all this time for dealer workshop and HQ engineers to concur and fit a new one.

Hello all new here.
I’ve owned my 2022 D250 110 from new registered 290622 ( this bit is important).
13 weeks ago we received a letter from JLR advising that a software update was required DO42 and to call a number. We called the number and selected option of a home fix. They said that they would call back to arrange a suitable time. Then the cyber attack happened. We heard nothing but that’s understandable. About 10 weeks ago we missed a call so my wife called back but after 1.5 hrs on hold gave up.

8 days ago the charge system failure warning came up. I called my dealer who booked me in for the following Saturday and service said the update was related to this. Well things escalated quickly as on the next evening In Control advised the battery was low and to check if car stolen. It was there but I couldn’t get in. Used the blade and nothing would work. I attached a charger and the alarms went off. aA attended and we got it jump started and attached a trickle charger. At 0303 on Sunday morning we were woken by In Control again. Same issue. On Sunday I called AA who attended and recovered the car to LR Cheltenham.

The car is a little over 3years 3 months old and 23365 miles. I am out of warranty. Anyway it has taken all week but it is now diagnosed as a failed DCDC Converter resulting in consequential damage to the 12v battery. The DO42 update was related to this known potential issue. I am told it will be fixed Monday so 10 days no car. Cost is £2k with a contribution of 80% by JLR.

Do others think this is acceptable? A known faulty part has caused all this which should be replaced FOC in my view. I am getting the extended warranty on Tuesday but have to pay £250 extra for an inspection before I can take it out as over 30 days since original warranty expired. What are views on extended JLR Warranty?

If the problem was known & communicated prior to warranty expiry, then 100% not your cost.
Perhaps suggest to the dealer that this damage was by no negligence on your part and you are just waiting for feedback from *insert legal name* with regards to your liability.
