200TDI 110 wiring loom. What’s this relay for?
Hi guys

I’m tidying up my wiring loom as I’ve taken out the dash to tidy it up. The loom is in good nick considering it’s 1992. I wanted to take off any post factory bits that have been added and no longer needed. This yellow relay on the right of the steering column doesn’t look factory. Does anyone know what it does? Reading threads I think it might be for heated rear window which I don’t have nor do I have a rear wiper and don’t plan to.

Factory wiring never used blue crimps like that.

Therefore not original factory, it could be someone has replaced the HRW relay but heated rear window wiring colours don't match what's there, but who knows what is going on out of shot.

Where do the wires come from/go to?  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Totally none original wiring. Does the fuse you are holding feed to the relay? If it does, try pulling the fuse and then see what stops working.

Thanks Martin

Had a brief look and one wire goes up to the instrument panel, another into the ignition barrel and one into the engine bay. Need to investigate further.

That’s a good idea. I’ll try that. Possibly if it’s rear windscreen though I won’t be able to tell as I have neither a rear wiper nor a heated screen 😄

Long shot but could be additional lights, have seen people take the feed from the main beam tell tale bulb before to switch on additional spots etc through a relay. 2003 TD5 110 CSW

Can’t seem to work out what it’s for but as it’s not factory I might just take it out to tidy up the wiring before the dash goes back on. If I notice something isn’t working then I’ve found the issue!
