TD5 Exhaust Manifold
Hi

I'm looking at options for an uprated manifold for the TD5.. It seems there's a couple of options:

Allisport - about £700

Various ebay modified standard manifolds - £2-300 including studs, gaskets etc. Some claim to be de-webbed/skimmed/heat treated etc

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/226895163874

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314316494193

Unless the Allisport one is proven to be 'better', any recommendations for reputable suppliers for a modified standard one?

The promade ones are nice but £££££

Personally I dewebb my own, then get all faces skimmed.

Not had a problem after.

Just don’t buy one that hasn’t yet warped. You want warped, then sort it.

Allisport one is made by CJM in France.

Its a excellent manifold and very good if your running a hybrid turbo or VNT, helps when trying to squeeze more bhp and lower EGTs. However they can still warp, mine did after about 40k.

The TotalTd5 ones are well proven, heat treated, destressed and work well for standard tune and moat other applications if your not chasing numbers.

I have a spare standard manifold that is warped if you require one to borrow so you can keep your vehicle on the road.

Thanks. At the moment I'm looking at known weak points and options for fixing them before they cause an issue - just trying to figure out if the allisport/CJM ones are worth the extra money over a 'fixed' standard one Smile

There used to be a chap in Beverley East Yorkshire who had a machine shop and small forging business who used to do an exchange service for £75 where he would deweb, normalise then machine all the faces.

Ill see if I can dig out his details.

Also the be safe install with longer studs with spacers. This gives the studs more flex and avoilds pulling the stud out maybe
