^^^ I think it’s one of those things that’s awkward either way - from underneath, or from the top via the opening in the tunnel. (Edit - I agree though, it’s up just underneath the turret.)
An alternative (only time consuming the first time) is to cut out a section of the tunnel, keep the cutout section, and use it as a “hatch”. Once upon a time I had issues with my Roamerdrive shift lever and by far the easiest option was to make an opening to allow adjustment, rather than taking the whole tunnel off. I find that a disproportionately awkward job. Distant memory here as I last had a 200tdi in 2007'ish.
Pretty sure the reverse switch is easily accessible with just lifting the cover under the centre seat? Like I said, quite a while ago, but only a butcher would find it necessary to cut holes in the bodywork to access something that's rarely accessed and also quite easy to get at. |

I can’t quote the last reply, but I think it’s quite out of character for this forum.
You weren’t there; you don’t know the configuration of my vehicle; nor how I re-instated the patch afterwards. Maybe not be so quick to rush to judgement and throw insults around? You don’t say what kind of Tdi you have, they use different gearboxes which have the reverse light switch in different locations.
LT77 (for 200Tdi) has it on the back of the selector housing. Fairly easy to get to with the centre seatbox panel removed. ![]() Click image to enlarge R380 (for 300Tdi) has it on the left hand side of the extension housing, a bit harder to access. ![]() Click image to enlarge |

Both are doable from under the centre panel of the seat box.
