Grenadier Project
As part of my Grenadier project I’ve started by removing the factory steering damper and running without one fitted, got to say the car steers more precisely and now self centre’s. I may in the future fit an aftermarket damper once I’ve tried it off road, as on the road it’s simply better without the factory one fitted. The reasons for this, I believe are a standard steering damper is inert, it only compresses or rebounds as the steering wheel is turned. On the Grenadier the damper is more like a shock absorber in that if you push it in it rebounds on it’s own so is constantly pushing the steering wheel from where you want it.
My winch bumper has arrived so will be fitting that with a winch that carries a more useful amount of rope than the factory 15m.
New wheels and tyres fitted this week. I went for a full mud tyre and in my opinion it’s a nicer drive than the bfg all terrain, I found that seemed to crash into pot holes whereas the mud is a bigger profile seems to absorb some of the bumps.

Hi

The steering was the final nail in the coffin for me with the Grenadier. I had waited 2 years for a test drive and whilst I was really keen on the vehicle I thought that the on road steering control was bordering on being dangerous.

I pointed this out to both the sales team and INEOS only to be told “Well nobody else has ever complained about it”

It looks like a great vehicle and an interesting project you have there Thumbs Up
