I have double checked the official instructions Land Rover provides.
They also suggest to remove the wheels and arch liners. Having done the job it’s probably a good idea. It will definitely give you more room to reach the bolts to tighten them. The fixing plate coming with the flips has got 4 holes of which only 2 are used to keep the flap in place. The confusion comes from the 3 holes in the flap and 3 bolts provided in the kit. It’s definitely a design flaw however the instruction clearly state to use only 2 bolts. |

I have some questions on your boot setup. Sending you a DM so as not to hijack this thread EDIT - looks like new posters can't PM right away, would you mind sending me one first? |

I think this one is pretty good, around $100.

I fitted ‘easy fix, terrain pattern’ large mud flaps from Hunters Prestige. Around £90 for a set of four and took me and my brother about an hour to fit all four securely. Indeed they are as secure as the factory flaps on our current model Ford Ranger pickup.
None of the removing of side plastic trim and fitting brackets malarky necessary when fitting these flaps. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge They look great and I sprayed some tyre shine on them the other day and they glossed up to match the lower body trim. They are wide and deep enough to stop nearly all stones and chippings flying up and damaging the side of the Defender or breaking other cars windscreens. They keep the sides, lower body and steps clean as well. ![]() Click image to enlarge |
