For Sale: not your average Defender
The vehicle will be tax and MOT excempt in three years time, so would make a timely investment. The vehicle has original Land Rover side steps fitted, although they are a bit bent out of shape. All glass is original and has the reg number etched into it. This is not an over-modified vehicle but almost in its original condition. One of the major visible upgrades is the headlights which are Stedi Homage. These are safety relevant as you can now drive at night and see where you are going. I opted for lights that kept the reflector optic but give the light of modern LED's to be sympathetic with the overall character. This is a head turner on every show (and actually anywhere you go) visually as well as accustically. ![]() The upgrade to the 3.9l V8 engine makes this vehicle perfect for actively participating in traffic rather than just floating in it. This thing is serious fun to drive. Off-road it plows through pretty much everything due to heaps of torque. On-road it will make you forget that this is a utility vehicle. The price I am looking for is £16,500 ono. price reduced to £15,500 ono Details: - most importantly, this vehicle is keepig you dry even in heavy rain! - chassis is in good condition and has been Lanoguard'ed last summer and would be due a refresh this year. - The original V8 has been swapped by one of the previous owners for a 1992 Range Rover Classic 3.9l V8, paperwork still shows the original 3.5l. - mileage is 100.219 but speedo is stuck at 100k. additional mileage is recorded via fuel consumption tracking. - bodywork shows a lot of patina, which at least deters theft of doors etc but, in my opinion also adds character. door bottoms are obviously not perfect but certainly don't require immediate attention. - engine starts immediately and runs smoothly and had recently got a new alternator, distributor cap and rotor, battery and starter. I have also added the for V8's oh so important coolant level sensor to ensure you hear when the coolant level drops. - front geometry was neglected by previous owners resulting in uneven tyre wear. I have had this sorted and the tyres swapped front to rear. Now drives and steers like new. - bulkhead is generally okay. The top corners will need some attention in the future as do the bottoms of the A-pillar before things get worse, but again, like the doors, no immediate action is required. - wind and rain deflectors added, which make a big difference when driving with open windows. - the interior is very original and I have added a few improvements like cup holders, USB charging ports, magnetic phone holder in the front. The rear received a few cargo rails to secure loads and hang coats, hats etc. There is cabling in place to install a leisure battery. I used to have a fridge running permanently in the back which helps with refreshments. - several security layers are added including immobiliser, pedal lock and an Optimill boss with lock and removable smaller steering wheel. The small steering wheel lets you drive the vehicle even in winter as your elbow no longer needs to stick out of the window. - front windows are electric and towing electrics work. - weight taken off the rear door by installing a rear wheel carrier. - front bumper isn't original (as you can tell) and was only put on as a placeholder until a galvanised bumper would be ordered. That didn't happen yet, so it comes with unconnected lights in the bumper. - front number plate is a sticky on one, a standard reg plate comes with it though. - window sticker of my home town included (£10 off sale price if you can tell me the town ![]() - Morocco camel on the folding seat is NOT included. not sure if I have listed everything but I am trying to be as transparent as possible. In conclusion, this vehicle is right for anyone from those who want to just do the keep-it-on-the-road manintenance or those who want to have an easy project for restoration due to its age and closeness to historic vehicle status. The fact that it hasn't been tinkered with much helps either. ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Last edited by falkster on 22nd Sep 2025 8:05am. do you think so? They appear to not be the most common wheels. https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic93004.html so, I think they are very appropriate. but anyway, each to their own, and luckily we don't all have the same taste, right? ![]() |

You're quite right, each to their own.

Doesn't mean you're not right.... Something more fitting to the age/style of the vehicle would certainly make it more attractive. One life - get one. |
