Ford Transit 2.4 TDCi Engine for Defender?
Hi all,

I was wondering if it makes sense to buy an old Ford Transit with the 2.4 TDCi engine and either use it for spare parts or even swap the engine into a Defender.

Has anyone here tried this or has some experience with it?

Thanks in advance!

There are some differences with ancillaries (e.g., the sump) but in essence the engines are the same and interchangeable.

New or reconditioned 2.4 engines are in extraordinarily short supply considering the number that have been on the road.

Probably because vans (where most of the engines ended up) are rarely repaired if the engine has failed, they're just scrapped.

Once a van is ten years old it becomes effectively worthless anyway, so who is going to spend £5,000 on an engine.
