Refundable deposit
Hello! First defender purchased this weekend.

I went for a 90 hard top in Gondwana Stone.

I used Carwow's service to find a £1250 discount off my chosen spec. Signed on the dotted line and left a £1000 deposit. Upon arriving home I then received another quote on Carwow for £3000 discount.

My question is, do you think the £1k is refundable and I should change dealer or just take it on the chin and look forward to my new shiny truck arriving at Christmas?

Thanks all
James

This happened to me in October, within a day Nottingham had increased their offer well beyond my local dealer. I told my local dealer i had changed my mind about the order and they refunded my deposit, it took 5 days. I didnt tell them i had had a better offer.

I'm really tempted to do the same.

If it isn't built yet and factory order, you'll be lucky to see it this Christmas.😀

I placed my deposit back in 2022.

JLR then dragged out the build for an entire YEAR, during which time, they changed model configurations, removed some important standard equipment AND BUMPED UP THE PRICE BY 13%!

When I complained, the message was basically "Take it or leave it".

So please don't kid yourself about loyalty. You're just a number to them.

Ask your current dealer if they can match the offer. If not, take your money back and save yourself some cash. They'd do it to you in a heartbeat.

The distance selling regulations are in your favour. There should be a cooling off period specified in the agreement you signed but even without that the deposit should be refundable
