I found using ACC with the vehicle set in ECO mode stopped it accelerating hard

n Dynamic mode it sometimes drops three gears just to pick up speed quickly 🤣. I don’t get why they can’t program it to use the torque more effectively before shifting down.

It does seem extraordinary that a “premium” car brand can produce an ACC that feels more appropriate to Trabant quality.
I suppose that they’re a motor manufacturer not a software company but, really, it’s pathetic and embarrassing that they get this so wrong. |

Well I’m going against the crowd here, but I think it’s pretty good most of the time. I’ve only experienced sudden acceleration or deceleration on a few occasions when the other car does something unexpected. The algorithm used must be a complex one.
For example if your cruising along at the fixed distance, and a car does pull out into the gap but is going faster than you, I’ve noticed my car does not violently brake, but lets the gap regenerate naturally. If it pulls into the gap and is decelerating then yes your car will brake. Most people instinctively drive aggressively. I’m not saying you all tear around like hoonigans, but you will defend a gap in front of you by closing up on the car in front of you to possibly discourage a car from entering that gap. Your car will not think like that and will not be able to predict that the other car will move over into your path. So the algorithm is defensive and will give way to others. @Gareth you are right. The car can only react it can not predict.
But on the other hand, some implementations are so, from technological standpoint, at least 5 years behind. F.e. the Matrix-LED, with its light bars, gives me just a cheap feeling and I am coming from an Mazda CX-5 and not from an Audi or BMW with their Laser-Lights. But the drivetrain is top, off- and also on-road - you can not excel in all categories 25.5MY 110 P300e Carpathian grey |

I think the ACC is pretty poor. To me it will never replace an attentive driver who wants to maintain smooth progress without disturbing passengers. Can you imagine a chauffeur using it? They'd probably get sacked! But of course it's only a computer. In very light traffic, or the opposite, in stop start queuing it can be useful to give your right foot a rest for a while. 23.5MY 90 V8 Carpathian grey
