Drain holes for sliding panoramic sunroof
Being slightly paranoid about sunroofs leaking (I've had a Discovery 2, so I hope you will excuse my paranoia) I tried to check the drain holes on the new Defender to see if they were clear. However, it seemed the water doesn't go down a drain hole but runs sideways from the front of the sunroof towards the edge of the roof, then down between the panels towards the windscreen and then down windscreen by the inside edge of the A pillar as per the attached photo. Both sides are the same. Is that how it should be or are the proper drain holes so blocked the water can't go down?

I'm also assuming there are no drain holes at the back of the sunroof. I couldn't see any.

Many thanks. 2023 Defender D300 HSE in Pangea Green

Thank you. That rather suggests the water should be running down inside the A pillar in a drain tube, not down the outside, which means.... 2023 Defender D300 HSE in Pangea Green

Bit late answering this topic but I removed the trim on one side of the panoramic opening rood a few weeks ago with a view to installing a couple of stainless steel 10mm pipe inserts, just as I had done to my L405 RR a few months ago. They have a different design of tray, made of plastic rather than steel for the Defender. It has drains at all four corners I think and it is all plastic rather than with centrally placed steel drains. Even so, like the L405, I suspect that some water will drain down the grooves as seen in the OP if it pours down with rain and the vehicle is parked at a suitable angle.

For what its worth I have the sliding pan roof and no leaking (or any other) issues in the past 4 years.
My previous car, from Munich, started playing up after 3 years... had to be reset every month, then the blind got warped, jammed, then had to be replaced. 22MY Defender 110 D300 S in Pangea Green and Contrast White Roof

At the weekend I took off the plastic trims that run along the outside of the sunroof (carefully, from the front) to see better what was going on. It gives you a clear view of the 4 drain holes (2 front, 2 back) and makes it easy to clean the channels out. The drain holes seem very small (about 3-4 mm I suspect) so no wonder they block up. Then, with my trusty observer and a large syringe to control where the water went, I tested everything. The rear drain holes were both clear and seem to drain out down the rear pillar with no obvious exit point - it splashes out under the rear bumper. The Discovery 2 was the same with the drain pipe finishing about chest height with the water then finding its own way out. Similarly with the front, it seems to run down the 'A' pillar and splashes out the bottom, again with no obvious exit point. If you put the water in too quick then it overflows down the grooves between the panels, as @Huwcil says, and ends up anywhere and everywhere.

I'm certainly going make a note for myself to check the drain holes every year.

Thanks to everyone for their input. 2023 Defender D300 HSE in Pangea Green
