In Australia you usually have to add the Govt stamp duty, Luxury car tax and GST on top of the
advertised price, a D250 110 S i got quoted for two weeks ago was $106K, but on road cost with govt
charges put it nearer to $130K.. the X Dynamic SE starts at $130K drive away before you add any extras.

Thanks for clarifying the additional on road charges zilch Thumbs Up

(Sarcastic voice on) I now feel a lot better knowing it’s only at least $32K more when sold in UK 😊😊

Great video, both vehicles taken further off road than 99% of owners will ever go. But nice to know how capable they are

Sadly most Defenders (and probably Lexus) are wasting away on the school run.

But people buy them for school runs and when Landrover designed and marketed them they aimed for that market, NOT for the offroad market. Is it capable: sure! Is it an offroader: no. Both the manufacturer and the consumer never intended for the vehicle to be used as an offroader

I'd like to ask: "What makes/defines a true off-roader?"
Yesterday, my new Defender and I participated in an off-road training day here in Austria at the Stotzing Off-Road Training Center. Despite only being equipped with all-season tires, it mastered all the challenges perfectly. The only drawback: With such an expensive car, you have to plan your lines more carefully to avoid any possible contact with the "enemy". 25.5MY 110 P300e Carpathian grey

A couple of friends and I did a full day in Dunkeld (fantastic facility). This vehicle is without a doubt an offroader.

A little clip of my friend navigating their rock garden for the first time.

What makes a good offroader?
Ground clearance
Good Tyres
4 wheel drive
Diffs
Approach/Dept angles
Robust
Good Torque
Reliable

I think the Def ticks all of those boxes and will warm your bum whilst comfortably munching the 12 hour drive home.

As I slowly made my way toward the spot, inching into the mud, people nearby started chiming in with friendly warnings like, “You’ll need a real 4x4 to get up there,” or “This is more of an urban vehicle — it won’t make it!” Even the parking assistant tried to steer me away, saying, “Those spots are for Grenadiers — Defenders aren’t built for that this days .”
I still parked beside it… no drama, no wheels skidding nor anything…
Guess Land Rover has well managed to steer from the off road perception… a bit too much? Or was this the goal?

I feel this silly discussion will go on for as long as the classic Defender is still around. In our experience, what counts as a “true off-roader” is strictly subjective. If you ask some Australians, anything that isn’t a 70 Series is already a “road car for school runs only.”

Does it matter at all? The on- and off-road capabilities of the current Defender are well documented. Some people choose to ignore that — I couldn’t care less.

We’ve been running our Defender 90 for nearly 200,000 km now, including some challenging offroading and a trip into the Sahara and back. Where classic Defenders and Grenadiers struggled, we had no issues whatsoever. In fact, we ended up pulling some of them out and made a few friends along the way.

l sat in a Grenadier at the weekend, l really like it, the vehicle felt like my old Defender 110 but better engineering.

I would love one, but would have to change the vast front bumper for something more aesthetically appealing.

Makes a great seat for changing boots or at events.
