News: Land Rover is drastically cutting oil change interval?
“Land Rover is drastically cutting the oil change interval by half for new Ingenium 3.0d vehicles.”

…A guy claims this news on Facebook, does anyone know anything about it please? or is it just the usual social media rubbish? Defender 110 SE I6 D250 23MY

I certainly hope so! and it's about time. I'm in the market for a newer Defender D300 right now, and I won't consider any who have followed the factory service schedule. They are quite possibly a ticking time bomb as a result.

Ignored the oil change marketing schedule from Land Rover from day one and change it and the filters every 12-15k km's.. major service every 24K.. yet another pommie bar steward down under

I suspect this is nonsense.

Reason being is that as far as I am aware, there is NO prescribed oil change interval for the 3.0 ingenium. There are service intervals of course but the service sheets do not contain an oil change at any service interval.

The oil change interval is calculated by the car dependent on driving style and maybe other factors such as incomplete dpf regens. My first oil change looked like it was coming at around 15000 miles (but was carried out at 12k)

Of course if you get a mandated service then the chances are you'll get an oil change at the same time, but they are not one and the same thing.

I have seen this on Facebook as well. No idea if true, but is possible. Currently I am doing a 12 monthly oil and filter change myself using genuine filter and Land Rover specification oil.

No idea why it would just be the 3.0L Ingenium, I would think it would be the other ones as well in 2.0L in the smaller cars etc??

My local dealer advised me to not go by the maintenance interval and do an oil change at least once every 10k miles.

So while it may not be formally recognized - at least there are signs its being socialized within the LR dealership network. 2022 Defender 110 SE P400 Tasman Blue Expedition and Cold weather package
