Thanks for this, I will be giving them a call tomorrow to find out what’s happening, I have been awaiting a call back since Thursday which never came despite me calling several times.
I’m definitely going to push for the rejection, I just feel like they’re going to say there’s no evidence that it’s doing it as their techs have said it’s fixed…
We have got ours on finance and have already informed black horse, they said they were happy to wait for the update so I will be getting back in touch with them tomorrow to let them know the update didn’t work and see if they will help me with the rejection 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Hi , I created a profile just to post this , this issue has now been resolved via a TCM update released the other week. Pop down to the dealer and they should know about it. Ref an SSM released yesterday. 👍

Great.

I was able to dig up more info.

The specific SSM (Special Service Message) posted in JLR TOPIX portal is SSM76369. The title is about prevention of the vehicle roll on release of the brake pedal.

While it does not provide a specific description what is being modified with the new TCM (Transmission Control Module) update, it mentions that this update is a temporary measure until the permanent solution is being developed.

I hope it eliminates the disconnection from Drive to the Neutral all together as oppose to some form of solution involving application of the emergency brakes or something equally silly.

I have booked myself for the update in 10 days. While I am hopefull for the fix, at very least this will provide more imformation and clarity.

It’s called NID natural in drive, when stationary and in D with the brake pedal pressed the gearbox drops into N , this saves fuel and lowers emissions. The NID time was/is too long and this is what causes the roll back. NID will never be removed , but it should be seamless.

Thank you for the insight.

I believe this is the first time the feature name of NID (Neutral in Drive) has been mentioned in this tread.

As the specifics of this SSM become available, I am rather curious how this is going to be implemented.

The NID re-engagment delay is noticeably smaller under certain conditions. Sometimes the car does not even go into the NID at all. So clearly, the delay timing can be manipulated to a certain point.

In the spirit of freedom of information, below are the details of this SSM.

Depends what the cars doing, DPF regen , EGR position, engine temp , gearbox temp (to warm the box up faster it won’t do NID) if you drive in sport then it will never do NID.

NID time will be reduced and will be implemented via a software update.

When you say "drive in sport", do you mean having the transmission lever to the left into the tranny sport mode? If so it doesn't help. It still goes into NID.

Morning all,

I was called by Sytner yesterday to advise of this new admission by JLR, I assume the attachment above is what she referred to as what she said echoes the content of it.

As I have already said, I have already had the initial update - it’s not a temporary fix in my eyes as the issues are still present. And as you can see, there is a second update dut but no date for this so who knows how long it will take.

I’m hopeful that this new admission by JLR will support my rejection. I have also taken this matter up with the motor ombudsman.

Looks like the issue now has a solution, are you still going to proceed with rejecting the vehicle?

Yes, they don’t know when the permanent fix will be, could be next year for all we know and I’m not prepared to wait when I have a 2 year old and I’m worried about the car potentially rolling into other cars etc
