How to Upgrade speaker wife for focal ES100 KE speakers
Hello, I am hoping to install the focal ES100 KE speakers I purchased from MUD using the wire diagram below but I also have read that I should consider upgrading the speaker wire, so I purchased a role of high quality wire.

My question is once I have the dash apart, whats the most logical way to replace the old tiny wires that LR so nicely provides us with some upgraded wire? Im not sure how to do it correctly and before I tear open the dash of my daily driver I wanted to ask.

Thank you!

Unless you’re running an amp or the head unit outputs high power (4x50 RMS +) you won’t really notice a difference between the standard wires and your new wires.

If you’re not running tweeters already then the following will work.

The easiest way to start off is to take the speaker wire from the dash speakers and connect that to the input on the crossover as that’s the full signal from the head unit, using Land Rover wires. Cut the connectors off and wire them straight into the crossovers. Then use your new wires to connect the speakers to the crossovers. This is the least amount of wiring you’ll need to do and will help you decide if you want to change the Land Rover wires. There should be space behind the dash speakers to place the crossover, just make sure you secure it to stop it flying around.

If you already have tweeters, then best go from the back of the head unit with 1 new wire to the left dash speaker and 1 new wire to the right dash speaker, then follow as above.

On the back of the head until you will have an ISO connector which is made up of 2 separate connectors - 1 for power, 1 for sound. You can buy a blank plug with connector pins that you can crimp onto your new wires so they run directly from the head unit. They are left + & - and right + & - they’re a “worldwide” standard so all front lefts go in the same place and all front rights go in the same place, regardless of make of head unit.

It’s not particularly difficult and will be straightforward when you see it.
