United Kingdom 2006 Defender 90 Other HT Java Black
TD5 10AS issue
Hi all,

I have recently taken the TD5 turned V8 off of the road as I now have bigger commute to deal with and the fact a few issues have arised.

It looks like the central locking and 10AS has failed? Neither of my two keys function. The necessary functions are receiving 12volts.

Anyone experienced this? any suggestions would be great beforeI send the unit off for inspection.

NOTE: I am going to going on the timeless overland tour to france next year, looking to remedy everything slowly.

thanks 4.0 V8 Defender 90

Might be worth checking the wiring that runs through the conduit to see if there is a break in the (very thin) wiring.

My problem at the time was the door once locked with the key fob would just unlock itself straight away. From memory there are four of the thin wires that run from the door to the bulkhead. For me it was the yellow wire that had failed.

I did not bother with a new loom, just repaired the break.

I am sure that someone here can pinpoint the actual cause of the problem.

Good luck

Thumbs Up

First thing to try is new batteries in your fobs...it sounds unlikely but a few months ago in cold weather I paid the local independent guy nearly £100 to come out and tell me the alarm was fine, my fobs weren't transmitting. Two new batteries later and all fine - doh!

Once you've eliminated that and all you've checked continuity between switches, doors and ECU it might be a case of send the AS10 off for surgery. These folks seem to crop up in these pages quite often -
